Last week me and my wife Jess took a day trip from our North Hollywood apartment down to Manhattan and Venice beach. We've visted there once before on vacation with some friends. I remebering having a great time day drinking and bar hoping down the strip to small locally own bars. This time it was just a lunch and walk around trip (and some drinking of course). The Manhattan beach pier is a very cool picturesque spot. The pier is made out of cement which seems kinda of rare to me, most being wood of course. Got some great shots of Jess doing some fun stuff under the pier then we headed to Brew Co. which is right up the hill.
After we did some walking around we hoped in the car and headed to venice to catch the sunset and get a drink at the Venice Whaler. The chef there Nick Liberato is a guest chef on the show Bar Rescue which is one of my favorite shows. "Don't embrace excuses embrace solutions" - John Taffer The sun was setting so I set up my camera on a sand dune near the Venice Pier. I was high enough on the dune so you could see the sun setting right over the pier. I used a Lee Filter Big Stopper ND Filter. 3.0 Stops down, this thing is a beast. The exposure was about 104 sec long letting the water come in and out numerous times to get a smokey effect on the water while also looking a little glassy. You can see the result below on the 3rd picture down. Enjoy the pics guys. Thanks for reading
